Ed asked how it performs with a windshield.  My guess is that like most meths stoves it needs a windshield but is not particularly fussy about the details.  Have you tested it in a breeze yet Dan?

All meth stoves need windsheilds. I have not tested it in a breeze. This stove can't be blown out easily. Recent threads have bantered in detail about using windsheilds. Always provide sufficient air to the base of the stove so the air does not have to come over the top edge of the windsheild. We want the chimney effect to be present. Windsheild design is a science to get them right.

A potstand made of chicken wire/hardware cloth/gauze to the same height as the stove will work nicely. Make it the diameter necessary for the pan size that you use. It will wrap around the stove for storage. On level ground use the stove without the larger pan support.

so does this one piece 'does it all stove' actually needs pegs, potstand and windshield to work effectively in the real world?

nice and simple compared to say....a cone.

No, just a windsheild like the cone. This stove is simple and efficient. 15ml to boil 500ml and continues to boil for 3 min. No priming necessary. I can give you ideal conditions numbers, what you do with it out in the real world will test your abilities as an outdoors person. Once you get out there you're on your own. You'll be tested to see if you've done your homework, paid attention in class type of scenario.

This video is for frum.

Thanks Doc.

Y B-k.  Brilliant, but what took you so long?  Nearly 18 hours to fix the problem, that's not what I call fast service.

Frum, It takes time to travel over all that water between here and there.

I'll do some tests today and see what  difference the air being taken up into the center makes on heating and length of burn. Maybe it'll use only 7ml of fuel to boil 500ml

cheers me ole china

Ah, right.  I think I remember seeing it on a BPL thread; probably one of the kelly kettle threads.

If the video has some info on making the thing*, I might try to get to a machine that will let me view it.

* not from a Bud bottle, sadly, as we don't get them.  But I do have some other mini-bottles that are similar...

I made a larger model out of a "Venom" energy drink bottle. I should have brought a photo of it with but I was in a hury and forgot....

When I initially listed the Super Stove on ebay I was notified the listing would not show up in the UK. Time has passed since I started this thread,  many stoves have been sent out to many different countries. I thought to stop by and give a link to the Super Stove on ebay in case someone might be interested to see some videos of it in action. I'll be back to show you the "Mangold Mamba"
