Only if it actually leaks. I'd be tempted just to try it first Ray as I imagine seam sealing to be a bit of a messy job. Should be ok with a bit of luck.

I've got the original 2006 version and have never had any noticeable leakage, nor with my SL Quasar. You might get a bit of seepage through the outer's seams in the heaviest rain but in my experience nothing the inner can't handle easily. As Steve says, I'd certainly try it without first and only bother to seal it if you actually have a problem.

cheers chaps. will hold on for a while and see how it performs first.

Perhaps egg sucking for grandmothers 101, but if you've got a garden and a heavy rainstorm coming up then it would make a lot of sense to pitch and check there, rather than on top of a mountain... (never had a leaky seam on 4 unsealed tents, 1 slight leak on another after much use where you could see daylight through the stretched stitch holes so no real surprises, and a blob of goop solved that) Pete.

my crux storm has never leaked in heavy weather either and my akto has not seen rain yet as i have only used it twice but i read on a thread about someone moaning about the superlite leaking on the top seam.cant see it happening myself as the seam quality looks as good on it as it does on my crux and akto.

Dont want to appear negative, but... We had problems with the seams on our solar 2.2, until we applied Silnet to the seams. OK now, but not in the same class as our 10 year old Nallo. Just kep your Silnet handy and be prepared to apply on a nice dry day.

i have heard about problewms with the solar bacause of the flat roof and pools of water sitting on the seam?

that was only one of the problems! Also lrak in seam where poles run horizontal over door...
