I've been walking and hiking again over the last 6 months and I'm finding that my joints crack lots (I'm 35). As I go from rest to bending my knees they crack and my big toes and ankles randomly do the same. It happens quite a bit, even when I'm in bed. Obviously it's really a question for a doctor but I have quite a hike next weekend and I wouldn't be able to see one before then.
Medications and supplements won't fix it for you by next weekend. I'm taking daily codliver oil capsules, glucosamine sulphate and three cubes of jelly (feel they must help) to ward off the day. These are longterm though, and I'm over 65.
For the weekend I suggest you get a couple of knee jocks for added support and tell 'em it's the twigs that are cracking.
my joints crack and click first thing in the morning - caused by loose ligaments (so said the Doc) and my muscles relax during the night, so it is fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders and hips......I'm sure there is a song there....
anyway, it was made much worse when I lost weight due to illness....
As MK says, unless it hurts I wouldn't worry about it, sort of like your 'cracking' you fingers! it's the air that makes the 'sound'. It's also a symptom of getting older! Your joints lose elasticity/flexability, the membrain around your joints gets thinner/ making the air escape easier, so you hear the 'creaks and pops' more easier/often. If you are worried, see your GP. h
