Can't help you much with Crianlarich, mostly generic Scottish pub scoff iirc, but if you are a bit further up the road near Glencoe, the Loch Leven Seafood Cafe is superb - well worth travelling for.  And if you go not very far the other way, The Drovers Inn is fun

Would also recommend the Real Food Cafe!

Only eaten in Crianlarich once many years ago in the pub (Rod & Reel?).  OK but nothing special.

the 'real food' cafe is one of the worst fish and chip shops i've ever been to ... my boss even phoned me the other day to tell me he'd made a huge mistake by stopping there. how they won a food and farming award i don't know. the burger van a few miles east of crianlarich did me a good angus burger this morning though.

unfortunately good places to eat here are fairly few and far between (see ALoveSupreme's post). it's a fair distance away but the falls of dochart inn at killin gets my recommendation for food, and the landlord keeps good beers.

I have to say Bob I have NEVER had a bad fish & chips in the Real Food Cafe and I eat in there at least once a month sometime more. The food is always freshly prepared and very tasty. I am sure if whoever had the bad experience pointed out their dissatisfaction at the time that Sarah the owner would have done her utmost to rectify any problems

As for eating in Crianlarich, we noticed on the way past today that the newly refurbished Crianlarich Hotel id doing food and has a public bar. Maybe worth the visit?

Hmmm...don't you just love it when some comes along and their first and only post is so negative against such a successful establishment   As TBW says we've always had excellent food in the Real Food Cafe and it's always busy so it can't be that bad!

" ... and their first and only post is so negative" - wow! I gave an opinion, and added a recommendation too (the original post asked for good and bad experiences).

"it's always busy so it can't be that bad" - yes it can, dine at the Kingshouse for another example of poor food dished up to the plentiful passing trade.

congratulations on your 4881 posts AT.

Crianlarich. Blimey. Take your own food.
Kingshouse is worse.
you don't go to these places for the food.
Surely not.
