I took both SkitoStop and DEET when kayaking in Alaska last month. Having discovered in the UK that SkitoStop didn't work (for me) as well as DEET for midges I wasn't planning on relying on just the SkitoStop. It worked fine on Alaskan mosquitoes, though did need re-doing more often than DEET. Overall very pleased with it.

I've often looked at this and thought it looks ideal but I burn so easilly I don't think that the factor is high enough for myself, shame as I like the light weight and the fact it is the two things in one. Hate carrying sun cream and mossy stuff and in soft pouches or bottles that open easilly, spray on can is ideal.

Skin so Soft by Avon seems to do the job perfectly

For some values of "perfectly".  My wife reacts badly to midge, tick and mozzie bites and is consequently a willing trier of everything, inclusing ASSS.  She usually uses Deet (but has yet to try this stuff).

Pete.

I like the look of this stuff if it really works. I'm supremely reluctant to use DEET so have used Marmite (eaten lots of it, not rubbed it on myself...), Skin So Soft, and a few other things. None work as well as a headnet and tucking in socks, shirt, etc. into each other.

Tried it in Cairngorms in August.  Let me state now that I applied it liberally, reapplied frequently, and otherwise gave it every chance of working.

Unfortunately, the 60+ bites that I received over 3 days suggest it's nowhere near as effective as DEET based repellents.

Over 60 bites? poor you.

Like you, I am a midge-magnet and only DEET works for me.
