Yeah all these colours can be confusing. The last time i did Agags Groove on the Beauchaille, someone had repainted the holds. The ocean blue holds were very similar to the sky blue holds on nearby January Jigsaw. I'm sure i was climbing both routes combined.

I hope someone repaints them in a neutral 'stone' colour so there is no room for error!

Critics, the lot of you! Never heard of interior design? They're just colour matching. Philistines! Wait till they finish the new covers for the crash mats! ;-D

PS my posts have suddenly changed to ordinary text not html or whatever it awlays was. I had to go old school on the smillie! And I only know wink, smile, opposite of smile and stick tongue out so it makes it boring.

Scoff if you like but it's a problem I can sympathise with. The colour coding of routes is a serious problem in my local wall - worst offenders are grey/black/beige/yellow that all manage to end up looking like chalky off-white  with a smattering of black shoe rubber from above!

Although (IMO) the wall/facilities needed some TLC, the best I've seen was at Undercover Rock in Bristol where they had added high contrast spots to bright coloured holds - say fluro orange on black or fuscia on yellow.

As if the colours weren't bad enough, does anyone else find the instructions at some walls next to impossible to decipher when it comes to things like using features, smears, aretes, etc? I have no idea what actual grade i climb indoors because I'm never quite sure if i've been inadvertently cheating, or else making things harder for myself!

its the blue - green - mint variations that get me...

And the orange - red - crimson...

Grey - White - chalky black...

Liverpool's Awesome walls are on about a 4 month rotation, so its not to bad and on the bouldering all routes one grade are one colourso no excuses there!

That said I have a friend with a suspiciously variable red-green colourblindness!
