 Afternoon folks,
Following the terrific response we've had to requests for constructive crits over on another local thread here, we've put together a little reader survey for our next issue.
To encourage people to take part there'll be a related prize draw in which you'll be able to win Nanok sleeping bags and Petzl Myo headtorches - five of each to be won, top kit and all worth a bob or two.
We're looking into getting the survey online too – more details as we get 'em.
Full details on the drawn in the February issue, on sale January 8th (plug, plug).
Things seem to have gone quiet regarding the online crits - I guess we've exhausted your critical diodes for now - but please feel free to keep, posting them when you think of them!

John we've only just got January's and some are struggling to even acquire that one and here you are plugging Feb's, god before long it'll be next Christmas!
|
 |
Mike, appreciate that! Just think, in a couple of weeks I'll be starting to work on March's issue! It's very very confusing and it's the best excuse I've found yet to explain to the family why I've overlooked their Christmas presents yet again!
Jingle Bells

Further to first post on this thread, the reader survey will also be going on line soon so even those of you who don't regularly (or ever!) buy tgo can have the chance to give us feedback and enter the draw for the goodies.
Aren't we generous!
|
 |
John, we're all deeply appreciative of your generosity. Deeply!
Now guvner, how generous are you really?? How much of a backhander do you need to make sure I win a sleeping bag?
|

John the survey is up at the url in the magazine www.newsquestmagazine.co.uk/tgosurvey which I would of expected having bought the magazine this morning.

The link is a bit broken methinks.
However, having just bought the Feb tgo, I have to say I really enjoyed the Coniston mtb/scrambling piece. Coniston slate and a mountain bike, oh yes and I've still got the scars (Walna) to prove it!

 The link should be

Thanks Darren, that's the correct link. During the weekend, in trying to avoid as much of the crap weather as possible, I met up with a bunch of hillwalkers/mountaineers in Aviemore and we went through this whole question of what kind of articles outdoor magazines should be publishing. After a couple of hours my head was in more of a spin than normal. Some folks reckoned tgo should cover mountain biking and sea kayaking, as well as the usual activities like backpacking and hill-walking, while others reckoned mountain bikes were some kind of evil in the woods, but kayaking was OK. Others thought we should be a climbing magazine and others gave the opinion we should cover everything from angling to white water rafting. God, who'd be an outdoor magazine editor??? We now have a reader survey in the current issue of the mag and an online survey at www.newsquestmagazines.co.uk/tgosurvey/ Will you help us by telling us what you want? We need sensible feedback and OM'ers are, erm, sensible types? We want to represent the interests of outdoor folk, (ie hillwalkers, backpackers, wilderness lovers, mountaineers) and we can only do that by regular communication with folk like yourselves. Otherwise tgo readers will just get what interests John and I - well some of the interests... I should probably say at this point is that we are a successful magazine so we don't foresee tgo changing its base interest content, that is hill-walking, backpacking and trekking. But we could be encouraged to include some more mountain-biking, kayaking, climbing and mountaineering, but only if your readers want it and if we are convinced these activities will encourage more folk to read tgo. Thanks in anticipation for all your help, Cameron

Oops, almost forgot - take part in the survey and you could win Nanok sleeping bags and Petzl Myo headtorches. Most important... Cameron

If only I could get hold of TGO. WHS in Wrexham never seems to have a copy but then come to think of it they dont seem to stock any outdoorsy type of mags. Shelves are full of Hello, OK and How to make your own Dolls House.
|
 |
They should be able to order it for you. Mind, my local keeps trying to give me lasts months instead.
|
 |
 Hi Helen,
I'll have someone look into the availability of tgo at Wrexham WHS. I'm pretty sure they should be stocking it.
Hi Darren,
If there's a problem there too let me know a few details and I'll see what can be done.
Availability seems to be a major issue does it not!

 |
Surbiton doesn't get it either, I have to go into Kingston (£2 bus journey) to get it during a work day.

Hi Cameron. Just to say thank's for the Islay Whiskey i won at the outdoors show last year, after subscribing to TGO, still not touched it yet, waiting for a special occasion, but i shall renew this year at the show. it's still the best outdoor mag you can buy. See you there.
