The North Face have several franchise outlet stores dotted around the country where they should have a better than average range of colours. Failing that, any decent stockist will be able to get you one in the colour you want, assuming it's in stock with the EU distributor.
They seem like a reasonable piece of kit, but as usual with TNF you pay a 20% premium over equivalent produts purely for the name.
thanks guys. I'll search for stockists. To be honest the premium isn't an issue as I'm as interested in design aesthetic as much as function. I like the cut, colour and hood shape.
Just out of interest though what other brand and models would you reccomend as an alternative to a fully waterproof shell jacket?
On the evidence I've seen I wouldn't recommend any TNF waterproof, tho some of the real ultralight ones are supposed to be ok. Generally, the hoods are not good for UK conditions -- often not wired and don't give protection to the face even when they are. There usually seem to be a few other niggles as well.
Other (better) makes to look at include Mountain Equipment, Crux, Rab and Haglofs.
Erm, look at the title of the article linked to the thread, and then Jon's updated review from last week - it would appear that this is a TNF waterproof that is fit for UK use, hood and all.
