 My Salomons XAs come in a few colours, some absolutely berko and some reasonably subdued, maybe there'll be some less...eyecatching...versions of this boot in time. Fearsome price for a lightweight boot though.

yeah they are rather pricey arent they, although i guess the RRP for the cosmics and quests are £160/£140 so the lighter you go the more pricey they seem to get... i have some XA's in budgie green too....ill get my coat...

 They're sending me a pair of the quests on test in the next couple of weeks, they sound pretty promising but the proof will be in the abuse I give them. They're available in an all-black style if you can't handle the lairy colours.

this does seem to be the way boots are going, judging from sales of quests and cosmics which (despite the lurid red of the latter) have been wicked popular ever since they came in. The lightness and springiness more or less sell them instantly, plus a really good last that fits a lot of feet (narrow at the heel, wideish but not too high volume at the forefoot).

Ive been very impressed with the cosmics so far, my main reason for buying them was i had been wearing the XA pro trainers all summer and when i came to put my scarpa nepal (excellent) boots back on i realised just how heavy they actually were. So decided to bite the bullet and get some cosmics or quests, ended up going for the cosmics because they felt a bit comfier and i got a decent deal on them, it took me a while to track them down in my size but it was worth it. I wasn't sure about going back to gtx lined boots but the XDA's hadn't been to bad in the summer so that kinda re-assured me. The real test for the cosmics, i guess will be the coast 2 coast later this year...
