Like a lot of people I am having trouble making my mind up about boot selection. Basically I'm after a stiff lightweight winter boot and recently tried on the Scarpa Charmoz and La Sportiva Alp. I liked them both, although the Charmoz seemed a lot lighter, they were about the same in comfort. I prefer the lacing system of the Alp and the Charmoz lacing was fiddly. Of course the Alp has a more aggresive sole.
My question is, has anybody have any experience of the Alp? I can only afford one of them. Any info much appreciated ( on either boot )
I got the Trango Alp last year trading up from the Trango Evo S as I wanted a more aggressive sole which you certainly get with the Alp. I've worn them half a dozen times in variable snow conditions and they do what you'd expect from a winter boot. They are nice & rigid at the front for kicking steps and edging but with enough flexibility to handle rocky ground.
Unfortunately for me with the combination of large female feet and orthotics the fit on one foot wasn't right so I am going to be selling mine. So if you're a size 43 and want a bargain then send me a message
