My Buffalo Fell Jacket has become my most used bit of gear over the last few years. Worn next to the skin it's surprisingly comfortable when on the move in coolish to very cold conditions -- often well below 0C. It also works well with a Helly Hansen base layer when it's well below freezing, but that combo I find a bit warm for anything apart from the depths of winter. However, I do run warm.
The hood is good -- not wired, but fits me well and adds instant warmth without the faff of stopping to get a hat out. I often wear a cap underneath the hood to give a bit more protection to my face, which works very well. I also like the velcro adjustable cuffs, which allow good ventilation if required.
The fabric is pretty durable -- mine has been dragged over rocks without any sign of damage, so it's a good bit tougher than Rab VR (which doesn't fit me very well) or a Marmot Driclime shirt I used to have. Its key benefit for me is its excellent sweat management -- any moisture seems to get lifted away from the skin very quickly indeed.
My only notes of caution are that the pocker placement isn't perfect -- they're partly cut off by my rucksack hip belt -- and it will probably fit folk with broad shoulders better than skinny types.
