Impressive specs from these hand-made German-manufactured down sleeping bags.

Lovely

Actually though that passion 1 bag, while no doubt very nice, doesn't quite convince me quite so much. Why go to such lengths to cut weight (stitch through, no hood etc) but retain a full length zip?

The other slight problem with it is that PHDs ultra bag is a 'huge' 345g, has a proper hood, box wall etc and is nearly 100 pounds cheaper. The current exchange rate has a lot to answer there of course

The only difference in materials is Yeti's face fabric being 25g/m2 vs ~30 for MX (both using insane quality down!) so the ultra should be quite a bit warmer.

I guess the zip would let the yeti do better in really hot temperatures.

Anyway the passion 2/3 bags do look quite gorgeous on their website.

There are actually 2 companies with that have Yeti as part of their name and produce down sleeping bags etc. One of them is Polish and is also known as Warmth Unlimited and the other one is the German company that produces the sleeping bags in the article.

In the EU law is small gap. This "German" Bags are produced in Poland in company called Pajak , and on the unofficial blog one of the designers you can read that who  exactly is producer of this bags Blog.

This same behaviour you can find in other companies like Bergans or Haglofs

sorry for my en.

Hi, that is not correct, because the bags are produced according German law in Germany. Of course doe's Yeti  have a lot of subsidary companies in the world.Even bigger companies for instance car manufacture does have it. Or would you say BMW is a polish car because parts of the engine are from Poland? Sorry that I have to explain that shortly. Please every body can have a look in the factory in Görlitz (Germany) every time!

Yeti sleeping bags are made by Yeti in Germany, not Poland. The polish sleeping bags you mean are from a company called 'Warmth unlimited'.

More than enough of an argument, to my mind. I hate being too hot, and I also hate highly specialised gear (like a zipless bag) which is quite restricted in its working temperature range. I can't afford to have several bags covering a range of different temperatures

I'm looking at some lightweight down bags that I'll be able to unzip and turn into a duvet for the summer, but I can still use when the weather is a little chillier. Its amusing that PHD is one of the cheaper options

Yes that is amusing Their direct selling must make quite a difference of course, don't forget the 300's in their regular sales either.

Zips only genuinely annoy me in the context of amazingly light bags which have trimmed everything else off to save weight. They're already more or less mono purpose by design and the weight penalty for a zip really is contextually significant.

In 3 season stuff & warmer (like the warmer things in the passion range for instance) they make plenty of sense.
