Has anyone done this?

I have a pair of leather Berghaus Explorer gtx boots. Despite washing the insides and using shoe deodrant regularly they absolutely stink after each wearing. The boots are a bit too tight anyway so the increase in volume shouldn't be a problem. If this doesn't work it's the bin for these boots.

not a good idea, the would be nothing between your foot and the innerworkings of the boot.  Your feet would be shredded.

The gortex is wafer thin anyway - (basically it is PTFE, as thin as a plastic bag) so what you would be cutting out is the lining of the boot - see Robs. above.

Stinky boots are usually a factor of the feet that go in them...suggest you look closer to home for the source....

Thanks for the comments. Don't think it's my feet as I have other lined footwear that don't smell. Will get to work with a nice sharp Stanley knife and report back after a test.

Possibly, but I was going to throw them away anyway.

The label says UK 10 or European 45.

Unless you have remarkably small hands, you'll never get your fingers and knife down to the toebox to get the lining out...so all you will do is completely knacker a pair of boots as part will be screwed up and the other bit...wont or maybe... so take them to a charity shop...because, if you hack them about, no-one will get any use out of them.
