Wotcher,

Has anyone heard anything about these packs in the UK...?

There are a couple of reviews on backpackgeartest.org in the states for the Nanon. Nothing for Zepton anywhere.

There are a couple of shops proclaiming to sell 'em in UK but not sure about provenance and you can't get the colour you want...

Does OM want to sell me their 'evaluation' pack?

Have patience

'Early' in 2010 probably means the switch to spring/summer stock. Thats not quite happened yet, despite previews on websites like this being way ahead and some of the manufacturers having putting their stuff up.

Can't blame them really It is still February and snowing after all!

Yes, but I want one!

Have been weighing them both up against things like the OMM Villain and the Karrimor X-lite and they seem to come out on top. the backpackgeartest.org reviews are very thorough, though very american - ie you get A LOT of information...

All this in view of retiring my 80L POD sack from 1990 which I use for everythig. Its just a tad big for the ultralite game.

If you are going ultralite, do you need one of these heavy, framed packs capable of carrying 15kg?

Mike

They've got em in Keswick and Ambleside - Zepton 50 in a nice aquamarine dyneema gingham(), and the womens versions in green and a sort of berry colour (nicer than the male colour IMO)

DW and I tried one for size.  He almost bought one but the hip belt on the long back size version is so well designed, it wouldn't cinch up enough for a 32" waist (doh!).

Very nice (apart from the colour and not fitting us tall svelte types.

Do they have hip belt pockets though? I seem to remember from the pics on the OM preview they didn't? That's quite a let down for me, much as I like the look of these packs. I hope they add them on to the next version...

I think the zepton doesn't have hip-belt pockets but the Nanon does (it also has a fron't stash pocket which i don't think the zepton has either). However, looking at the BackpackGearTest, the hip-belt pockets look pretty small and useless (for me anyways).

Saw one in Ambleside and somewhere else as well. Can't remember. For that money I would prefer the OMM sacks due to their extras and strippability. Not that I'd ever cut anything off a sack but a label.
