 Sigh....

Was that a wistful, I want one of those, sort of sighs?

Nope Benco, more of a why the hell do companies keep on making gimicky crap like this which'll just end up in a landfill somewhere. Oh, and £55 all up for a feckin' water bladder and waste of time and space flow meter just takes the cake. Anyone who needs one of these and pays £55 for it shouldn't be allowed outside in the first place. Grrrr. Rant.

I agree, everything is becoming "Gadgetised". My platypus stored in the freezer between outings will do me fine till it pops...

For myself I find that your common or garden bladder is an unecessary gadget, my liquitainer works just fine and so (god forbid!) does any old plastic pop bottle. It's occurred to me a few times that there should be a thread about gimicky crap that's no use to man or beast, maybe this is it. Any other suggestions for stuff that works fine, does what it's intended to but is effectively useless?

I've just realised what my hill days have been lacking all these years - my personal, pre-set hydration goal!! Damn, no wonder they were all so crap!
And the general concenus is that it is a crap idea
I've never been short of nice fresh water in the Highlands. Maybe a flow meter that i could hold in my mouth as i was drinking from the stream would be good.
You can get just the flow meter on its own for just £25......
2L more expensive than the 3L??? Other way around I think?
A bit like heart rate monitors, I imagine they'd have their uses for folk wanting to fine tune serious athletic training. But for most of us, most of the time... "Hmmmmm. I wonder if I need a drink? Let's see, am I thirsty? Well, that's tricky, I'd better double check on my hydration monitor". Puh-leeeeeeease! Pete.
Mind you a flow rate meter for beer wouldn't be a bad idea. With a pre-set personal intoxication level, of course.
Aye, set your optimum dehydration level and off you go.
