I will be walking Offa's Dyke this year, (all being well). Is there any wild camps on route?

There's a challenge walk called Open to Offas I think. Off-topic I guess.

your best bet is to take a bivvy bag and doss down furtively wherever - I did Offa's and tbh there are more than a few farmers who actively seek out and move on tents.....I guess they have their reasons but give me Scotland anytime for wild camping....so go do the West Highland instead!

Cheers Andrew, done the WHW, Cleveland Way, and a few others. Will be carrying a

bivvy bag and my trusty Akto. If I hit bad weather I prefer to camp.

I did it a few years back with a blue and yellow cheapy dome tent- very obvious to everyone but never got chucked off everwhere. However, this was one of the wettest easters in recent years. summer means more people out later. we followed the cardinal rule: camp late, leave early-we looked for wooded areas-even a few trees on a golf course can hide you. the 1-25 maps are very useful for finding spots. we even found a spot in an ornamental garden-very dodgy but if you are cautious it's ok. It's definitely stealth camping rather than wild camping!

I've camped by some rivers along Offas Dyke, eg at Newchurch, sometimes in farmers fields when I make sure I'm off early. There are plenty of remote or quiet spots along the highest sections of dyke (Llanfair Hill stretch, for instance) where you're not troubled at all, but generally there's no water up there.
