I was camping in Fernworthy Forest on Saturday night with a friend when late in the evening we noticed a convoy of cars heading along the road that skirts the edge of the reservoir. We thought something was up because there weren't any cars coming back the other way. It is a dead end road that terminates at the far end of the reservoir. Then about midnight we heard some techno / drum and bass / hard house music being carried on the wind in the distance. This carried on until about 2pm the following day. When we left camp at about 5pm we drove up the road to see what had gone on. Several police vans and 4x4s were coming the other way. At the end of the road a gate leading onto one of the forest access roads was open, which we drove up. About a mile or so into the forest we came across several cars, old vans and several hippies who looked very much under the influence of class A substances - at 5pm!!

I'm just curious really as to how often these raves take place, how they are organised, what the police's attitude to it all is.

Blast from the past them were the days, the good old days of illegal raves in barns, forests, factories and farmers fields.

But im going back at least 20 years or so and didnt think that sort of thing still went on,but hey it seems like it does. .

The only real way to find out is jack your job in,scrounge of the system and smoke pot and not wash for a while and go mingle with the Hippies and then you will be in witha chance of finding out how often these things happen lol!

Some good posting from Didster, there.

On Youtube, there's film of one that was held in the Karrimor factory. I may or may not feature in the footage

There was a film/documentary about the East Lancs events being made, last year. I'm going to check whether it's going to see the light of day.

A ggod friend of mine is a very good DnB (Drum and Bass ) DJ and is at events like this quite regularly.  Every 2-3 weeks all over the place.  He assures me that they're always pretty good at cleaning up etc. and quite tactical in how they dodge being spotted by police.

I have been promised an invite but I think he's worried I'd ruin his cred.

That is all.
