Is it my general ineptness, or are the stuck on postcard-style adverts in the current issue vicious.
No matter how carefully I tried to remove them from the page, they always took a chunk out of the text below.
If ad's have to be stuck in, could we have a more removable glue please.
-- Mark. PS. Excellent issue by the way.

They were a pain. I hope TGO got a big pay check for positioning them over the articles.

Just managed to get mine off with only the card damaged. As they are only advertising Wales I'm not worried. Not sure they are targetting the right market as I know where everything I want in Wales is.

Thanks for those comments folks - very valuable, as I've had other feedback on the same subject, via other sources from readers.
Did anyone like the postcards?
You should be able to peel them off without damaging the card or the text in the magazine but it might be that more gum was used on some than there should have been.
Apologies to those who've had trouble with them - keep the comments coming!

Apart from those cards, John you have to be congratulated on an outstanding edition this month. I really enjoyed reading it.
|
 |
Many thanks Darren - please tell all your friends!!!!!!!!
|

sounds pathetic, but i actually liked them - got no real friends you see!
i'd echo darren, i thought aprils tgo was probably the most enjoyable edition i've ever read - cheers for the freebie john!
it addresses most of my concerns, the gear tests were relevant, the writing good and the articles said "you can do this, and heres how"
most impressive - and aprils trail was pretty good too, so no gripes about my £3.
what will we groan about now....

Crumbs!!! Perhaps I'd better go out and buy a copy then. I'll let you know if it's any easier to get hold of this time.
|
 |
Don't put them in again. Ripped pages!!!
|
 |
I ripped two pages trying to (carefully) extract them, they are being used as bookmarks now.
Apart from that enjoyed magazine, liked new Technical Q section.
|
 |
Hated the cards - loved the magazine.
Wish I hadn't read the article about the Bob Graham Round - just when I was thinking I was reasonably fit!!
I look forward to the future Gregory pack reviews. Anything that mentions 'lightweight' grabs my attention.

I found the cards came away fine on day 1. After that the adhesive hardened and I couldn't get them off without tearing all of the pages,
I really hope they don't use the damn things again,
|
 |
Yeah. I didn't get a copy of the latest tgo til yesterday (cheers Cameron), and I found the advert cards very annoying.
They ripped a hole in Mike Hardings article.
So there was a bonus after all... ;-)

Yep cards were a pain but mag was good this month.
Except for the deliberate mistake in showing a picture of the view from Westmoreland cairn on Great Gable and labling it "the view from Kirkfell" :)

You should be able to get your production people to use a lower tack glue for the tip-ons. I work in media and often place such ads for clients, and most production depts have different glues dependent on the weight and finish of the paper. I actually liked the cards, and did manage to remove them without tearing, but it took patience.

I had to remove the cards all over again in the latest AT I picked up at the show. Plus point was that they were not on any articles.
|
 |
The cards in the copy of AT I picked up on friday werent glued in - so no torn pages for me.

I actually had one with no card, BUT the glue was there. Luckily I was able after hours of surgery to seperate the two pages!
