Hi folks, Anyone own of have any experiences with the PHD Hispar Jacket. Thanks, Stephen

got one, taken it to Elberus, Himalayas & the Alps. Damn good jacket. Large fits over everything, its about the lightest in its class, and as warm as a hug from a yeti. Well made, and tough, in spite of its weight. Pricey though, but as they say - "cheap, light, strong: pick two"

Hi Bob, Your Hispar is very well traveled, I rang PHD yesterday and I was told the Hispar did not have a Helemt Comptible hood and that I woudl be better off with the Rondoy which is not as warm but a bit lighter. Cheers, Stephen

Bob - did u get the Hispar in large so it could fit over everything or you normally wear large?
My Hispar pullover hood goes over my Petzl Elios, in fact it looks slighly less daft with the helmet under it! Hood is also detachable.
Kate, u have a Hispar too?
Yep, but the pullover, not the jacket. And it was a sale one with 800 down, not the 900. It's still very warm and light though!
Nice, Hispar pullover? interesting, are the chest pockets low enough to put your hands in them?
 Yukon not Hispar surely?
Yep, you're right, Martin, it is a Yukon, not a Hispar, sorry! It's the Hispar sleeping bag I've got. Hood still looks better with a helmet under it, mind!
Has anyone actually tried the Hispar with a helmet?
Anyone used the Hispar for UK weather?
Its a bit crazily overspecified for UK weather surely?!

If you're thinking about getting a helmet under the Hispar's hood, check the pictures on PHD's site:-

This guy seems to be happy with getting the hood over whatever head protection he is wearing. They also list the jacket as being suitable for "high mountain use". There are also several quotes referring to using this jacket on mountaineering expeditions under the "Testimonials" section. I'd guess the hood is fine for helmets.
