Ok - Having done a little camping/wild camping I have managed to persuade the better-one to embark on a camping trip sometime in the not too distant future. She refuses to use the Akto!!

The type of camping we are looking at will be camp-site,so 'car-camping' week-ends or perhaps a week and likely to be in Britain.

So, we're looking for a reasonable quality tent, one that will last some years. something like the Vango Tigris 400 or Orchy 400. (Are they reasonable??)

The main consideration is that one must be able to stand up in it.
About the same size as the aforementioned.

Does anyone have any good or bad experiences of these two.

Any recommendations for something similar in style and cost.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Sorry to 'bump' my own post but does anyone have any views on 4 berth tents for car-camping.

I'm still looking at the Vango Tigris in terms of quality and value.

cheers - Paul

Not a bad tent. It evolved from the Venture range and mines still going strong after 7 yrs.

Thanks Doctor and FB

I spoke to a guy in an outdoor store ( i won't mention the store)  on Friday about the Vango - although they had no room to erect any for demonstration/selling purposes they would sell them allowing the purchaser to try the tent at home - for a full refund if unsatisfied (and resaleable tent of course). He also stated that although good value for money, the stitching on some of the tents is not grea

iirc our local Yeomans Outdoors at Northampton stock Outwell and often have a good selection set up.

Following FB's comments and my trip to our local Yeomans in Northampton today, we do like the Outwell tents. They still had both Outwell and Vango on display although are selling display models in time for the new season.

We saw the Wyoming 4 - which we would have bought had it not been in-stock. at £179.00 reduced from £500 seems a good buy but, it is not on the Outwell website so I guess is either discontinued or exclusive to Yeomans - none of the deluxe range seem to be as expensive as £500 so I wondered if this has been artificially inflated.

Any thoughts on the Wyoming 4 - it does look very similar to both Minnesota 4 and the Virginia 5.

The Outwell Wyoming was too great a temptation to pass by so I went to Yeomans and bought one. I did have to travel to the Royston branch to pick it up.

Thanks FB but, family, my girls have all but left home now and sadly wouldn't be seen dead in a tent. Just Mrs iPaul and me, and the dog too of course

I have recently purchased a Vango Halo 300.
I've found it very easy to erect and quality seems very good. I've used this tent for two weekends away with the motorcycle and it was easy to carry as it packs down reasonably small.
