Aaaargghhh, I think we must all have been getting it wrong all these years....

According to a BBC report today, this is how we should look for a nordic skiing trip....

Pete, next time you're out anywhere near Lochnagar or Balmoral, I hope you'll be suitably attired?

I wonder if Braemar Mountain will have a By Royal Appointment sign over the door? (there are quite a few on Deeside, especially in Ballater).

In other XC news, perhaps more relevant to us plebs, a chap in the ski club alerted me to Glenmore Cafe having bought a piste beast for cutting XC trails.  He said last weekend they were as good as any he'd skied anywhere.  Clicky...

Pete.

Ah, I saw that at the weekend (the website, not the trail-cutter). Looks good, but a long trip for me, and if I get the weather right when I do head north, I'd rather be on the tops than in the trails....

We have 3 inset days coming up in February and two small kids that think they want to try XC... if the snow's still around and their hire stuff goes small enough it could well be an ideal start and much cheaper than a week in Austria or the like.

Pete.

Funny response from the spanglefish link that Pete gave:

"Your IP Address, 192.54.144.229 has been reported as a producer of forum/guestbook spam, and has been blocked from this server.

Spam report on 192.54.144.229

This is an experimental attempt to reduce the load on our server begun on 16th Nov, 2010. If you believe we are wrong to ban the IP address 192.54.144.229 then please give a reason and your email address below. We will reply with our decision promptly."

I won't be buying whatever it is they're selling then...

It's suggesting that someone within our corporate network has had their machine compromised by a spamming agent, so our corporate portal IP has been barred by some anti-spamming consortium.  Or our corporate IP has been spoofed by a spamming agent (not difficult).  Or a lot of people within my corporate portal hit a particular website by conicidence within a given timeframe, which is perceived as a spamming attack.
