We are thinking of our 2011 summer trip (somewhere in the UK) and for the first time we'll be travelling with our new arrival (baby born in November).

We are thinking about June time and want something that can get us all enjoying the outdoors, but is also baby friendly.

Any suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Kermit

When mine was 6 months old we went here www.kingsdownparkkent.co.uk

It has a swimming pool  with a toddlers section, a good restuarant and plenty of nice countryside to walk in.

Hi Mick

Thanks for the suggestion.  I love the look of the Chalets. They look really nice.  We live in Surrey, so Kent might be a bit close to home.  But it has given me some ideas of what to look for.

Cheers

Dan

Hellothe first link is the home page, the second is a price list of just one site. I don't know if different location prices vary?

We went to the site at Argyll, and paid £110 quid along with another couple. The  finish was stunning, really well built, under floor heating and auto opening roof windows. All very swish with a jacuzzi in the golden oak!

The view of the Cobbler and down Loch long was worth it alone.

As you can see,the prices vary hugely.

Also, have you got a back carrier for your nipper yet. Mine has been my best purchase, they are ace for getting out and about and they are so much more compfy than the front ones!

Thanks for the suggestions and the links.  These look really nice and look like they are located in the great outdoors - much better than Centre Parcs.

I don't have a back carrier yet.  He's only 6 weeks old at the moment.  I will  be looking to get one as he get's a bit bigger.  Any suggestions as to what to get and what features to look for?

Cheers

If your mum is paying like mine did then get the best one, you can use one from when they can sit up on their own so you've got a bit to go yet.

I got the old deuter kid comfort III model because it has an integrated canopy the biggest storage and is good to carry 23kg which is nearly a large bag of spuds!

I then got a vaude jolly comfort for nipper number two, which is nearly as good but not quite.I have used the deuter for three kids now and it must have done hundreds of miles,They are ace because they open up so many more places you can go.There are loads of occasions when I have thrown a picnic in the carrier, chucked it in the car with the dog and the world's your lobster!

One thing to know is how to put the weight on your hips, you will get advice on this from the shop or on here.If your shoulders hurt, you aren't wearing it properly.

I am that fond of the first carrier I dont think I will be able to part with it, I have so many fond memories attached to it.

All the best on your hols pal,

Regards (another Dan)

Thanks for the advice Dan.  Am looking forward to putting in some miles with the little man on my back.  My Dad used to take me on his back.  I remember a very old bright orange back pack.

Just need to hope for a good summer.

Cheers

Dan

I saw two blokes, one carrying a baby that looked no older than 6 months, in a kind of quilt at his front on top of cold and windy Blencathra this autumn. The little thing was sleeping away nicely...
