A couple of OM'ers have recently been posting from Libya.

Are you alright?

I was in touch with David Marshall a few days back and he was OK then, staying put in the desert.

Dunno now though.

Hello all

I’m back in the UK after being airlifted out Saturday night; please do not believe what has been printed in the news papers as it’s a work of pure fiction.

I spent most of the time driving about the desert picking up other ex pats and taking them back to our camp.

We managed two flights out one day to send all our locals home, and then we sent a convoy over land to Egypt with our catering crew.

We had three flights in and I left on the last.

I really can’t go into any real details but I was the last man out of Libya from my company and they almost left me behind.

We were airlifted to Create and spent two nights there before flying home on Monday.

We really cannot thank the local community enough for supporting us and we are making preparations to go back.

I have some photos and I will post them soon.

Thank all for your concern.

Good news that you're all ok Not in the least surprised that the news reports are 'creative'; a relative was in Tripoli when Reagan bombed and said much the same.

Lap dancing is pretty popular though. Can't see you having a problem.

I guess it depends where you were and who you are as to how bad it was out there. A very good friend of mine has many friends throughout the Arab world and she told me what some of her Libyan and Libyan based friends saw. Not everywhere was like where you were and some of her friends actually saw some of the results of the Gaddaffi militias. Some of what the press said is true. Doctors shot for helping injured protesters for example. Not a story but reported by a witness only one friend between us. My friend told me only a little of what she was told though so I can't give you more of what she was told.

I am glad you (David) and your people got out ok and good luck with the job search too.

Thanks all Im sure I will pick up something soon enough.

When I mentioned about the press writing a pure work of fiction I was referring to the actual air lift and the use of the SAS & the attacks on the aircraft. As I was at the location at that time and part of the team that formulated the escape plan as well as acting as a taxi driver picking up others from diffrent locations

I have no doubt what so ever what he is doing to his own people as I have heard it from many of my local co workers.

Not looking good in Libya for those who have stood up againd Ghadaffi.

The international community and the UN as decisive as ever.

Not heard any reports for the last couple of days from any of my locals who worked for me and I know some are from the areas featured in the news. I only hope they and their families are safe.

You no doubt wouldnt have know the SAS/SBS were even there. They'd have been deniable as feet on the ground and certainly not in uniform. In my experiance the grey man is always the one to watch out for ....
