what rubbish! They will still produce the electricity and it cannot be stored like gas so will be made for no purpores. That to me is like saying i will walk to work but leave my car engine running while i do . Are the power stations producing less during Earthy idea?if so well done if not waste of time.

So, I'm guessing that the idea is to stop using power for one hour. Per year, perhaps?
That'll reduce the global power load by 1/(24*365.25) = 0.0114%. And that's assuming a complete cessation of the use of all power, not just lighting. Woohoo.
I think it's more of a gesture to raise awareness of energy comsumption. But never mind 'didster', why don't you just use double the power during that time, just to compensate for the people that do support it eh?
