I'm after some rosemary essential oil i.e. pure 100% stuff and having a look see about the interweb i'm just bamboozled with the wide choice and prices. i appreciate that pure oils are expensive for the quantity and some just seem to be "too cheap" which may mean they are diluted in a carrier oil. or not.
can anyone recommend a brand for essential oils that are really 100% pure extracts? i.e. a real quality product.
We and others we know have used their products for over 10 years - I can't compare with others but the other satisfied customers we know are much more 'serious' users than us.....
You could always make your own... Steam distillation seems to be the accepted method.
As it happens, one of the examples in that link is a setup full of rosemary...
Basically, it's a steam generator, passing steam into a container of raw material, and a liebig condenser connected to the output, with a collection flask. The output oil is easily separated from the water.
Actually, given that you can get a condenser for about £9, it looks like a reasonable proposition. I'm pretty sure James Wong jury-rigged a steam distiller in one of his Grow Your Own Drugs programmes.
I'm sure I've seen the accompanying book in 'The Works' discount bookshop.
Iherb has a good selection and the prices are good too. When I am unsure I go for now brand as it's the cheapest of the best rather than nest of the cheap.
the Angel wasn't impressed by my intial suggestions capt... i daren't even consider metioning the obvious
p.s. halogen rings are feckin absolutely feckin usless if you have any pretensions about wanting to cook anything. look nice and easy to clean though. (they switch off when on full power when the thermostat or whatever they use kicks in so you can't get good constant heat under anything - nightmare!)
i do crude. with oil. i have the retaliatory bruises to prove it.
