I have a Henry Shires Moment tarptent which I find is great and I have no issues with it right now. I previously tarped, or used trekking poles with Henry's Contrail. I just wonder what to do if the pole elastic were to break. I note there is a metal pole sleeve you can carry if a pole should break and I understand it might be easier to thread a whole new elastic rather than repair the existing one. Just wondered if anyone carries spares. I seem to recall from somewhere at a pinch you can erect the Moment with poles.

At a pinch you could use it as a bivy bag. I don't carry spares other than some duct tape wrapped around a trekking pole. I'm sure some folk probably do, though.

I carry some duct tape and have heard of the fabled duct tape repairs; must be fairly bendy repair. After a pole break through a gale wind one co walker I met told me of a night with a wet tent around his ears which didn't sound too comfortable.

If the pole elastic breaks you can still join the poles OK - takes a bit of time and care but works OK.

As restless said, you can do without elastic if it breaks.. It's there to hold the poles together in order when folded, making it much faster to pitch. As long as you get the order right and have the patience to fit them in such a fiddly way, there's no reason you couldn't use your tent without bungie elastic while out and replace when you pass civilisation. The pole sleves to 'repair' a pole work well. I've used one before and the tent, while being a little out of shape was as steady as usual. I have also used duct tape on a family tent.. umm.. It stayed up for the weekend. A light breeze and it'd been gone though...

It depends. If the weather looks like it might get windy, a pole sleeve, with duck tape wrapped around it (to secure sleeve in place, and other repairs) might get taken. Oh, and bits of duck tape can be used to hold pole sections together (in use) if the shock cord goes. Saves fiddling individual sections into and out of poles sleeves.

Things I carry for emergencies with broken gear: -tentpole repair sleeve - ductape -needle and thread - small piece of sylnylon - small piece of fleece - pack of tear-aid for leaks and tears in things that cannot be sowed

Carry some Duct tape and a pole repair sleeve.
Zuma , I do carry much the same as your list and now added a pole sleeve. Wondered about your piece of fleece ,is it to mend your jacket?
No the square piece of fleece is to mend other clothing (trousers, shirt, underwear, socks etc) than jacket (my jacket is Goretex and there is the tear aid handy for).

I usually take duct tape, a few cable ties and a pole repair sleeve. I've found the duct tape and cable ties can cobble together any clothing/footwear/rucksack repair problems. I'd be more likely to skewer my own finger if I took a needle and thread.

.jpg) Duct tape and a few cable ties, a metre or so of cord. I also carry one of those hotel freebee sewing kits.

I always try to save the bit of ductape for when I really need it.... Hence the needles and thread. Also handy for blisters the needle and thread.....
My tent came with a small repair kit, four different sizes of material to repair outer and the same for repair of ground sheet. A small tube of glue, Very small in it's own wee bag and weighs next to nothing. Is also the same sort of thing you get for TMR, so does both if you get a rip/puncture. If wild camping, (which I do nearly all the time), I'll carry it, just in case!!
Do you really think you'll be adding a fabric patch to your tent if it gets damaged when wildcamping...which it really should not if you know how to pitch*? OK if it is for more than a few nights (I don't bother though). As to the pole sleeve; I really don't see it... your pole breaks (in the middle of the night)...you'll put a sleeve on...right; more likely to collapse the tent and just suffer mildly for a bit? *now cursed
