A possibly controversial one for you all,

I have never camped in a camp site despite doing many many hikes. I am aware that it is illegal (in some places) and fear I might get some negative feedback but wanted an honest incite from you all. When I camp I always clean up and make the area look as it did when I got there (maybe even cleaner!) My main reasons for wild camping are:

- Dislike being with a bunch of people, I love to get lost (not literally) in the wild and just be with whoever I am hiking with - or just myself)
- It makes planning routes 1000 times easier as I don't have to pass by a camp site
- I love the thrill of finding a good place to camp (even though it can take ages)

I hope I wont upset anyone, I have read many other places that this is generally acceptable but wanted a better opinion.

Cheers

Are you kidding, Luke? You are new on here, aren't you?

OM is full of people who go wildcamping regularly, I don't think you'll be upsetting anyone on here with your responsible 'leave no trace' approach.

Enjoy

Haha, yes I am

I thought that might be the case from my reading material and people I know I have just always had it in the back of my mind it was wrong

Thanks very much

I suppose not!

I'm glad this is expected because I would have been stubborn to change my ways!

Yep - would be the norm here.

One clarification is that on the whole we're talking up on a hillside, not or a roadside or farm - you can get chased then

Do tell LSD, your phrasing and vocabulary is slightly out of whack for a 19yr old from Surrey. Are you sure you're not a 44 year old from Kowloon?

Here's a test - translate 'per ardua ad gloriam' instantly.
