Off on my Hols soon and our complex has a water park on site so as you can imagine i will be spending two weeks in the pool looking after the kids while mrs diddy bathes .. Anyhow my lad (7) has only learnt to swim this year so he is not of the strongest yet tho he has took to water like a fish .. Right i am wanting to get him something like this floats but am at a loss as to which will be best and not hinder him when swimming.. Don't need a serious one just something to keep him afloat when he needs to rest.. Am after a good second/cheap/brand new or even to borrow one for a couple of weeks if it fits.. Hes 6-7 years clothing and built like an athlete (like myself) any helpful pointers very much welcome!!
Thankyou...Didster!!!

Dids My lad learnt to swim using one of these: Float belt It is unobtrusive and you can remove the floats gradually till you only have two or even one left on. If he's athletic like you I guess he looks like a shot putter, but agin the belt is very adjustable. You can search for them online, but you can have a special prize if you see my lad in the Swimrite catalogue (he came with me on the Arenig Fach camp)

Think youre on the right lines on youre original post,My kids use somethink like the reefwear bouyancy jacket when we do long snorkels in deeper water. It gives them great confidence and allows them to almost rest for awhile when needed.

I've probably got one you can have for postage plus a fiver, I'll check tonight when I get home. It looks similar to the gull rec vest if that helps. It's not been used much in anger, just when we were on the boat 'till my son grew out of it. Steve D

I'll have a look tonight but I seem to recall that we bought it for when he was 7-9yo, I've probably got a selection in the loft - used to do No1 daughters birthday party on the boat so needed half-a-dozen bouyancy aids available. Steve D

I've had one of these for my daughter and are great. Used to good effect in the sea of the coast of Spain. Your local Aldi might still have some available. I've lent ours to a friend but it should be back this weekend so could post it to you if needed.
(Sorry posted on Safari so not sure how to do links)
