If you really want to get close then something without an engine will work a lot better, but of course you can't just plonk Joe Public and his family in a sea kayak and tell them to get on with it...
I have a long-standing date with the Hilbre Islands. I had my eye on a visit in November 1983, when I was walking all the way round the Irish Sea. Unfortunately it was dark and I didn't want to risk doing anything silly out on the mudflats.
Nice to know that if I'm barely able to shuffle along on my zimmer frame when I get back there, that Metric Sis will be on hand to get me safely there and back!
GOM - Thank you for that. Never liked the Wombles as a kid but now I'm in my 30s (just) I really love them. Wombles are where its at these days. Reduce, reuse and recycle 'n' all that stuff. They did it way back in time. Talk about predicting the future.
Metric sis? What a name. Do you think she would appreciate that as her new nickname Kate?
Why you not into the wet stuff like Metric Sis? Watersports are pretty cool really. Used to love getting into neoprene rubber and a plastic boat then heading off a waterfall myself. Saw something about it on the northwest news programme. Some lass taking ppl out on a a RIB to some island after a "dry run" with the RSPB and rangers to get the agreement about how close they are safe to get without disturbing the critters there. Metric Sis... a TV star!!
Love that Wombles clip. Played it a few times now. Remember you're a Womble!!
outside OM I am widely (Ha... as if !!!) known as bomble. Think womble & bimble. A name given to me by my best friend at the time... I think he knew me rather well! I've always loved the wombles and whenever I'm out on a walk try to bring back what litter I can for proper disposal.
Now my daughter is taking to the show I have a much better excuse for watching them again
