Probably www.travelline.org.uk or www.stagecoachbus.com

Buses go from Penrith to Glenridding and Patterdale and vice versa - as far as I know they don't go over the Kirkstone Pass, so you would have to walk to Castlerigg or get the bus back to Penrith and then one to Keswick. There are also buses from Keswick to Ambleside and then the Langdale Rambler goes from Ambleside to ODG.

You really need a copy of "Lakeland Explorer 2004" which you can get from Tourist Info places.

Public transport info on 0870 608 2608 or if you need to know the times of buses from Penrith to Glenridding on Monday, let me know and I can look them up.

I have had a few walking holidays in the Lakes using trains and buses and it is not difficult to get around, better than trying to find somewhere to park in Keswick!

During the week bus 108 runs about every hour from Glenridding to Penrith, then connecting buses to Keswick as quite regular(I got the X50 from train station in Penrith and had to wait 2minutes after being dropped off by the 108). If you get off at the bus station you will have less time to catch your connecting bus so stay on till the train station.

On the website I found it easier to search for timetables than use the journey planner.
More buses run on the weekend including the Kirkstone rambler.

If you go into a tourist info place and ask for a booklet called "getting around cumbria and the lake district" you will be OK. It has maps, routes and timetables and I`ve found it very usefull when i need to plan a trip in the lakes using public transport. Hope this helps.

Yes, it'll be on the boards outside the tourist office, park notice boards and some pubs.

I also like http://www.metcheck.com/mountain.asp

I found these from the OM Weekend weather outlook articles.
