Hey all, I'm wondering if anyone's doing the british heart foundation's national 3 peaks challenge June 24th-26th, it'll be my first time doing it, any tips for the uphill struggle??

I haven,t done the N3P but am doing the Y3P in july, but some of my colleagues have just done it in a 24 hour challenge for Charity and really enjoyed it. Use walking poles to save your knees unless fully fit and used to the hilly stuff. The downhill tends to hurt more than the uphill in my experience. Get your head down when able, stay hydrated and lay off the booze till the end. When struggling uphill give yourself something a target to go for either a Cairn or something easy to pick out that you can see. And finally all the best for the challenge.

Hi NC...there are a lot of people on here who love to hate the N3P challenge - for a variety of reasons.

Andy has given you good advice -my plea is, when doing the Scafell section, do not start up before 5-00am and bear in mind that the villages you drive through (along with Wasdale head itself) have people living there - so when you arrive in the early hours of the morning with headlights shining, vehicles revving and doors slamming you will be disturbing someone elses peace and quiet.

Have a look at Wasdale M.R. website , there is a section dedicated to the ' National ' three peaks . Lots of advice . Covers all three peaks .

Thanks for the advice Grumpyoldman, I've heard a few people like to make noise upon starting up, I'll be quiet! I'm with a good team so I should do fine, I really don't want to be the burden though! Just on the rescue team website now, cheers for the advice
