I watched this last night. Amazing guy and trip.

Seemed to me to blow a lot of gear myths .Walking in Crocs in scree! Sandals a lot of the time, sandshoes to me but probably loafers now.Wellingtons! Big packs. I thought I heard him mention carrying 45Kg! at the start. He had  a pack half the volume at the finish.

Lot more to this than meets the eye there must have been loads of side trips to change gear, get money, find guides.

Would like to know how he was getting money in some areas ."Credit card, thank you very much ,Sir." might not work along the Amazon.

I went to see him do a talk on this trip recently, and all money was gained from cash machines along the route, well worth going to see if he's in your area doing a talk.

I've watched one episode so far, looking forward to the rest.

Can't remember what I've seen him do before but that was interesting to.

This guy is inspirational, pleased his body held up. Massive risk taking though but I guess no pain no gain.

He was winging it in the end.His mate Cho is special- knew how to catch fish. I read somewhere Michael Palin spoke to David Cameron how about getting this fellow able to stay over here.

Would like to hear one of his talks.

He is first and only person to walk the Amazon. Unsupported as well. His guide Cho also with him, not sure he was there all the time .Two programmes now finished.

Being accepted as one of the great explorers.

That 45 kg quote stunned me too. An impossible weight to be carrying at the start of a trek.  I also wondered how he would get his hands on ready money along the way, obvoiusly there are an abundance of  ATM's within walking distance of indiginous villages of the Amazon river!
