I am a new member and i am looking for people who go wild camping up north lakes etc.. i am a avid site camper and walker but i want to join the two. None of my mates or family are interested so here i am looking for some peoplke with similar interests.. I am no nutter a 25 year old self employed Personal Trainer who wants to explore a lot and feel camping at its best.
Anyone who (as a first post especially) asks for buddies to go camping with sounds like a probable serial killer on the hunt for new victims. The fact that you claim not to be a nutter makes it even worst.
Chris, welcome to the Forum; there are sometimes wildcamping meets going on, organised by people on this Forum - have a look in the Meets and Partners section.
I'm out quite a bit, normally only one nighters and not as much I'n warmer months ,but as long as you leave axe at home your welcome to tag along some time.I always take my Labrador with me and I'm not a personal trainer or 25 more paper maker and 43 based s.lakes
Just get out there either on your own or join on one of the wildcamping meets on here if you're brave. Both good fun. I'll be out tomorrow night and into the weekend in the Lakes. Not sure where but I do have some secret spots I found while doing the Wainwrights last year that I need to try out. Got one on top of a large rock outcrop. Once you climb up it you find a nice flat, grassy spot with plenty of soil depth for pegs which is perfect for a good view and still discrete so as not be seen.
Juat get out there, no need for others. in fact I think a solo camp is sometimes better. Especially since most of the group wildcamps I've been on people tend to crawl into their pits I mean tents and zip up anyway so you're as good as on your own really.
BTW get a tarp. Much better than a tent for experience that is. They can cope with quite bad weather too.
If you can make to the Brecon Beacons the weekend of the 12th August I will be out Wild camping, I will be putting up a forum post for it later today.
I have organised a good few meets with varying success
I was in the same boat as you as few years ago with no one to get out Wild camping after moving from Ireland to Belgium and now attend Om meets 6-7 times a year.
