As there are forum members that have great knowledge and experience, thought I would seek guidance.

My plans of getting to GT Langdale early tomorrow and beating the crowds (if ever possible),  have now been thrawte.

That means I will only have a few hours before the other reprobates arrive and want to warm up, and not feel guilty when the nectar starts to flow.

Any ideas how I can kill a few hours somewhere near by and expected to be quiter than the main routed. Unfortunately I havent got time tonight to look at alternative

Thanks

Head up Latrigg for a stunning view, then east towards Brundholme and drop down for a return along the River Greta

or

Jump on the Derwentwater ferry to get across to the west shore and nab Catbells

or

Walk out south along the east shore of Derwentwater, then climb up and return along the top of Walla Crag

None of these will be empty but I don't think they'll be too mobbed either - I suspect the Latrigg route may be the quietest.

Do a little circular of Barrow,Outerside,Scar crags and Causey pike, nice ridges and quiet too.

Parking at NY233223 and a path up to the ridge on Barrow.

Thanks

Catbells is planned for tommorrow once my mates arrive for their little warm up. I reckon I have 4 hours before on my todd they get there

Just had quick look, Scar Crags looks to do the job and should losen me up after 4 hour drive. Might have a wander up Latrigg Sat  evening if I have the energy

Glyn, Might give the pencil museum a miss though, save that for a wet day!!

Thanks again,

There's a pitch and put in Keswick too or the Theatre at the Lake is pretty good too.

Gear shopping!! Stating the obvious but it is Keswick!!

Hire a bike for half a day and head up into Whinlatter.

Get drunk in the Dog and Gun!

Bus to Honister and do a via ferrata!

Bus to Grange and have tea and snack at the nice cafe there (better one is up the road away from the one nearer the river on the left up the hill a short way).

You can walk from the centre to the lake (next to the theatre) and then head along easy paths round the lake to the eastern side. Some very easy paths but still a nice view.

Keswick has a climbing wall too.

I think the motor museum has closed but if I'm wrong go and see the Batman car and a 007 one too I think.

There is a leisure centre there for a work out.

There are tennis courts if you can find someone to play with.

There is crown bowling if you are old or Yorkshire (sorry for the stereotyping).

Teashop crawl!!

Combine teashop crawl with pub crawl with fish and chip shop crawl!!

Some of the above are serious others are not BTW!
