.. just bear in mind that camping has been banned in the Loch Lomondside National Park, apart from at designated sites.
Well, to be more accurate . . . it has been banned in a small part of the "Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park". There is lots of the National Park outside the restricted area, so don't be put off camping responsibly elsewhere in the Park, or outside it.
Done both as long distance pub crawls with a few mates. Very straightforward. Simply follow the path, and camp out of sight. Go for comfort on the feet, as most of the path is hard packed. Personally, i would wear trainers. You won't have any problems. Apart from midgies. Possibly.
You can usually find a bar meal each night. When i did them, we only carried a 4 man tent between us. No cooking gear, and always found someplace to eat.
If you are looking for more of a challenging walk, have an online search for 'West Highland Way High Route'.
