Have you not seen the 5 part video series I've just posted about it on YouTube?

Hi Lenny,

Bob's video series is very good and well worth a viewing.

You may, or, may not have Googled in TGO Challenge?

On the Forum Notice board, there, there is a wealth of information - including links to various Blogs - in places.

Another very good site is Doodlecat.

Here you'll get what folk did on the Challenge and some have listed their gear used. If you read a paticular account .... and, then Google in the author's name, chances are you may find that some also have a Blog.

The TGOC is a great experience!

Go for it!

I'm hoping to get on next year, being a first timer though I'm not sure I'll get on first time round, fingers crossed though.

I'll be going lightweight with hopefully around a 12kg pack weight including food and fuel for four days.

ULA CDT, MLD Trailstar, MLD Superlight Bivvy, polycryo groundsheet, Custom topquilt, NeoAir Short, Paclite jacket & trews, windshirt, down smock, Innov8 Terrocs, Caldera Cone, Bushbuddy, Ti pot, FAK, 8oz meths, Drinksafe Supalite filter bag & dehydrated meals for four days.

Probably other stuff I've forgotten too

It's a draw, so good chance of getting on first time (I did for this years)

I carried about 14kg or so,  inc 4 days food  with:

 Scarp 1 tent

polychro groundsheet (insurance - tent was brand new and untested - wouldn't bother next time)

Thermarest Prolite 3 short

Golite Ultra Quilt

Down jacket which I slept in regularly (Montane Northstar) and a Rab Photon primaloft jacket(Once stopped moving I really feel the cold! - needed them both some evenings),

Event waterproofs, Montane Superfly, Rab Bergen Pants

Montane Dynamo Wind Jacket

Trekmates Grasmere gaiters (hardly used)

Gloves: Extremities tough bags, OD Fleece Gloves (windpro I think) and Extremities Stretch On Gloves ,

Head: Patagonia R1 balaclava, Mountain hardwear Baseball cap (hoods on jackets)

2 Buffs

Packliner plus drybag for qulit/down jacket,  stuffsac for spare clothes

Inov8 Terrocs

sealskinz ultralite socks

full spare set of clothes, - ron hills,LS  baselayer, ss baselayer, undies and 2 pairs socks

Main clothes worn:

Montane Terra pants, Rab Powerstretch top

Cooking -  Homemade Caldera clone (Flissure), Starlyte stove, MSR Titan Kettle, Plastic Mug,  500ml meths in a Sprite bottle (750ml did the whole fortnight - ate out 3 times in evenings) lighter and plastic spoon

1litre lucozade bottle and 2l Platy Bottle

FAK/Wash kit etc (inc mini microfibre towel and 2 J cloths)

Phone and charger,  Camera,  Paperback Book

Maps in Aloksak (16 double sided printed A4 sheets (Memory Map)

Ortlieb Map case

Pack - Started travelling with a Golite Jam, but realised was overloaded (had dodgy back too)so bought anOsprey Aether in Tiso on way and used that - it was great - swallowed my gear and a solid carry.  (Sold it on ebay week after I finished -good pack just too strappy and heavy for me)

I did carry alot of food as I like eating.

I'd carry alittle less next time - could probably get down to 12kg with a little trimming of the clothes and sundries but still taking a proper tent.
