The most expected cycling announcement of the last few months... Cav joins Sky. Is there a worry that the team might be split between ambitions for GC places with Wiggins and Thomas, and for the points jersey with Cav?

Is this something to do with Hollyoaks?

Why Kate? There are always specialists in all teams so it could work. Would there not be more of a conflict between Wiggins and Thomas as the latter improves? I mean two team leaders doesn't work well at all.

Of course Cav likes to be in a team that is happy to concentrate on the points so I suppose that is an issue for him in joining Sky. He must have dealt with the team's aspirations, whether they are mainly after the big yellow jersey win or if a green jersey is sufficient for them. Whatever happens I think Cav will miss his lead out man. I think they had a real good thing on there that will not happen straight away in a new team.

One thing I do think and that is we will never have the points jersey and the GC top spot held by the same person again. Or if we ever see someone like that again he'll be something truly special and in a good team

Didn't know you were a cycling fan Kate.

It is a real shame us Brits don't really see Cav as the truly great sporting figure that they think of him like on the continent. He really is a talent in his particular niche.

Wasn't there something about Cavendish demanding to ride a certain make of bike ?

this is great news - at last a sport in which a british team might actually win summat! looking forward to next years tour now - wiggins for the gc, cav for the green, geraint for the white will do nicely. i think it went well in the worlds when cav won thanks to half of team sky, which probably helped seal the deal.

Don't see a problem, GC is not won on the Green Jersey.

As long as everyone tests negitive for performance enhancing products, I'd be happy with whoever won.

Its all about the money! and the london games.

In next years TdF i can't see how SKY can go all out for Green and not damage genuie Yellow jersey plans!

Listern Froome and Wiggins are capable of winning the Tour de France Fact!  SKY should be making every effort towards this goal.

Last thing i want to see is Brad doing what Tony Martin does for Cav at HTC.

(It really is a massive shame someone didn't come in and buy HTC and keep that brilliant team together.)

The Worlds proved that SKY have the team to provide a road train for Cav, but sadly this will affect GC riders Wiggins and Froome.

Froome's ride in the Vuelta a Espana was utterly brilliant and the by far the most exciting action of the season.   That was proper Toe to Toe, Man on Man War! On ground so much steeper than that you get on the tour!

I think Sky have gone for the better bet. Cav for green and other 1 off's such as Olympics is a far better bet than our 2nd rate riders getting a Yellow.

Maybe in years to come , but at the moment Wiggins, Thomas, Froome et al are not up with the best consistantly. Wish they were but they are not.

Utter bullshit!

Only a fit Contador is stronger fact!  Evans won the tour doing nothing that Brad couldn't have done, infact Brad would have put time into Evan on the Time trial.

For Cadel Evans it was the easiest TdF of his career! Fact!

The Inside peloton view at the time was correct regarding Brads form going into TdF 2011 (just ask Cav.)

As for Froome if isn't up with the best? why did all the teams fear him during the Vuelta?  Why did Carlos Sastre's boys ear mark him and said he was the strongest?????

Listern up when he finally got the green light from Sky!, he was taking on Spainish climbers on their own manor! Infact he was shitting pure climbers (some legends) from his back wheel,

They couldn't  keep the Kid's wheel.

Just remember the Giro and Vuelta races have much steeper climbs that the Tour De France.

1 off's . Like I said, consistantly !

Results to prove it?

Where were the big names during the Vuelta? Not there.

I would dearly love to see a Brit win but I just don't think it will happen yet. Close but 2nd means nowt.  To many things have to go right.

My money for a decent result would have been Thomas but he is not going for the Tour next year.

please prove me wrong Sky!

No Big names in the Vuelta??????

Nibali, Menchov, Moncoutie, Sagan, Rodriguez, Sastre, Scarponi, Cancellara, Kessiakoff, Boonen, Kloden, Brajkovic, Cav, Anton, Martin, Chavanel,Monfort, Frieire, Haussler blah blah

How many more world champions, grand tour winners, classic winners to do you want!

Only Contador, Evans and Sammy really are missing, please please don't mention Andy Schleck cos you'll end up sounding like Chris Boardman (Schleck isn't winning shit till he learns to time trail and he won't improve enough.)

Best bet 'Matts' stick to watching cycling on itv4...

As for being consistant??  If like Froome you are Domestic you don't get a F**king choice! you do your role you are paid to do!  Your not allowed to go and win races.

Thomas to win a Grand Tour???  He would be a bigger threat in the Classic's.

As for the Olympics well F**k all that, I am talking Professional Road Cycling
