Right then i would recommend The Cheshire Cheese Inn in Hope (not to be mixed up with The Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn in Castleton (only a mile away.)
A great bnb and pub at the foot of Lose Hill with great access to Win Hill / The Reservoirs/ Edale and Kinder/ and the Edges like Stanage, Bamford and Derwent.
I normally prefer the White Peak, but at the moment The Dark Peak is currently at it's best and still not too boggy!
On the Pub Food Front The Little John in Hathersage is king at the moment due to the huge portions. (been today )
Do check around Glossop, good access to Bleaklow from there and some excellent walks up there. If weather really is awful, it's a 35min journey at less than 4£ return to Manchester to check out the outdoor shops there...
A good walk to do from there, which I did on saturday is to take Dr Gate's path up the junction with the PW just by the top of Snake Pass then go to Bleaklow Head. Carry on following the PW, descending towards the Longendale reservoirs. Shortly before the PW drops down to the valley steeply, leave the path and head for the research station which you can see (couple of little wind turbines), walk alongside it until you reach a 4x4 track then head for Cock Hill before descenind back to Glossop. Have a pint at the excellent Star Inn right by the train station.
