I was about to point you to the Dundee University Rucksack Club wbut then I noticed the night shift bit - I assume you're not a student?

They are pretty active with trips most weekends, often climbing as well. I'll ask Pete to reply as to their attitude towards nonstudents/uni staff.

Dundee Mountain Club may well be worth a look, active, diverse tastes in how to get around mountainsides and nice folk.  Plenty of pals of mine in it but we're not as the kids are limiting us a bit at the mo.

They're a fairly recent setup, before they existed the most active climbing oriented club were the Upper Doonies (clicky for the MC of S listing).  Various others are mainly hillwalking centred, such as the Carn Daerg, Ancrum and Grampian clubs but most will have members with a wide range of interests  If you fancy XC skiing there's Tayside Nordic.
