As for colour, for me its a visibility thing wonder if theres ever been any research on this?

I can't quote references, but there's a reason why polarresearch stuf, icebreakers etc. are painted red: it's the colour that stands out best against snow.

But I don't know about against greenery.

Pete.

Bedders once again you have ranted quite rabidly and unfairly when the simplest thing to do was to ask the correct people.
You could have enquired of alpkit, had your questions answered and if you felt it useful posted the result of your enquiries to help others.
Instead, not for the first time, you indulge in an ignorant tirade against a company because you can't be arsed to read something properly. That's now three times you can't read things...

And you wonder why you get the reception you do.

It is good of alpkit to come on and explain in even simpler language than that used in the t&cs and well done alpkit.

Even more to the point - just to show how out of step Bedders is...

I cant see anyone else on here saying Alpkit are out of order (and I note Nick's comment about being stung...I know that feeling as well)

GOF you just so completely right my concerns are completely 'out of step' and so to be honest I can't be arsed. Despite having a genuine interest in the Kangri tent hence my original post I've decided that if I have to wade though all this I'd rather not bother.

Apologies Nick, you come across as a nice enough guy, I hope your tent venture works out for you.

what a surprise.  Funny how it is our fault, here at OM, that Bedders has lost an interest in a tent....because we have replied to his post and disagreed

or...maybe I'm being cynical...

Well, I think the idea is more of a 'try before you buy', rather than a genuine rental idea.

Alpkit page on 'Tent Demos'

I don't think the T&Cs are unreasonable; if you lose or destroy the demo tent, they have to replace it from one in their sales stock, which they would otherwise be able to sell at full RRP.

To me the T&Cs look OK.

Especially when you consider that Alpkit know that their most valuable asset is is their reputation for customer service.

Have they changed the rent price or am I just misreading it? ...
