There have been similar threads on - in your face advertising.
This is another.
Surely, TNF must realise that people will get fed up with pop up ads when they click on the OM Forum?
Yes, I know there are some klicky things to do to block their ads - but why should I do this?
I do actually have some great TNF gear - but, please TNF ........... you won'd encourage me to buy more, if I keep getting these annoying ads popping up in my face.
I wonder if TNF are struggling a bit at the moment, a few stores are doing big discounts on thier stuff.
Surely OM could say no to this intrusive type of advertising, enough has been said about it. To me it's like someone continually butting in to your conversation.
I would NOT buy it if I needed such an item now. The reason is the AVERSION THERAPY of the TNF pop up. It is so annoying ! To my mind TNF would NOT want to be assosiated with annoyance but rather adventure or some such?
My fav outdoor clothing- Montane- has something simliar on their web site, but as I go there less ofetn than here it is only 'mildly annoying' but even so why be assosiated with a negative emotion at all?
Advertisers need to consider that sites that are frequented often will have a different repsonse to those visited only ocaasionaly and consider how long such a advert should be in place.
Those sites that are hoping to generate repeat visitors should think carfully before using/allowing such annoying methods. I know I come to this site less often and even less when using my Iphone.
Less visits = less advertising revenue. A change in visitor demographic - less gear addicts like me who prefer technical gear detail to genric pictures- may also affect revenue?
Hmmm why would this site carry on using such a PITA method?
Peeps keep saying " use Firefox with ad blocker". I tried, but-
Can't work out how it works, not the set up I'm used to.
I tried 'importing' my contacts, address book, etc, etc. After doing so, it still wanted me to "log on" to every site.
Even some sites, like iPlayer, I use quite often, I couldn't log on to as it wanted a "pin no." to allow non parental guideance programmes. Which I'd NEVER set in 1st.place!!
So I 'binned' it and went back to browser I know, I know how to use!!!
