Someone couldn't even be arsed to rephrase Helly's press release.

"... a HH Warm baselayer is a must for any kitbag, to ensure the ultimate in style, protection and performance this winter."

Yeah? Right.

the seemingly spare comma makes it a bit non-sensical. like my spelling.

'Style protection' is very important.

'Gear News' is frequently (mostly?) based on press releases.  How much it's filtered to remove marketing-speak depends on the editor...  I think Nikalas is 'filling in', as it were...

Yeah, fair play, the other article's an interesting read

I know news is often based on press releases, and you can't re-write every word, but this one just smacked too much of Brand hyberbole...

sorry to dissapoint you all, but IMHO all gear news on OM is advertorial. I believen gear news is only placed on OM if it's paid for. I know of enough excellent gear introductions that don't make OM or any outdoorsite that works in a same way (supliers, importers, manufacturers pay some money for the exactra attention of special products due a gear news article. It's common practice. And if you run a large outdoor site you can make some good living out of it. Nothing wrong with this as long as you know it works this way and all is fine.

It does pay if there's enough traffic.

I picked up on this due to the thread but am so used to ads online they rarely register with me unless they pop up - like the North Face one.  I couldn't tell you what NF product it was for as it just gets closed.  I think the last advertorial here I read with interest was when eVent came out.

It may appear to read like a press release but I would be inclined to believe it. Own a H/H midweight lifa base and find it quite warming during my outdoor runs. Thing is bought my two tops in sales, not sure would want to be paying full on RRP...
