I got an email this evening that may be of interest:
"TV production company Crocodile Media (www.crocodilemedia.co.uk) are developing an observational documentary idea for Sky One based round an event with a competitive element in January, February and early March next year. We are still looking for an event to centre the film round and were wondering if there were any bikers / walkers / runners / climbers (you get the picture!) who would be able to help us by letting us know about what any interesting events they're entered for early next year.
The channel are looking for slightly quirky events - anything from a from a dolls house contest to a butchershop quartet contest, but probably not more run of the mill events like a swimming or rugby contest – with, and this is the key, interesting characters competing in them. It doesn’t matter if the competition isn’t the key element of the event, but there has to be a competitive element to the event.
So if you are booked in to an quirky event with a competitive element between January and March, please get in touch. We will probably go with whatever ideas come to us first so we’d be grateful if you could get in touch with us ASAP. Anne-Claire at Crocodile media can be contacted on 07815074344 or anneclairepilley@btinternet.com."
Hmmm, "developing an idea" is mediablox for trying to think of something to pitch.
Crocodile is a kosher indy propuction outfit (they've done stuff for BBC4 and C4) but I wonder why their researcher has given her private email addy and mobe number rather than her contact details at Crocodile?
For Jan, I'd say they're leaving it a bit late. The email smacks of floundering and desperation to me.
