Has anyone gone wild camping in Switzerland, I know it's strictly not allowed but the guide books indicate that it is still done.
Going to Grindelwald and around that area, just fancy waking up to lovely view and nobody else.
Any suggestions appreciated

I wild-camped the TMB last year and a quarter of that is through Switzerland.

Like almost anywhere else, if you do it sensibly, at high-level clear of habitation, put your tent up at the end of the day and take it down in the morning, you almost certainly won't have any problems. Oh, and preferably use a small olive green tent rather than a large bright red or yellow one!

Good luck!

Same advice as David Hanson, camping at high level seems to be tolorated (it's probably a case of, if your not caught it's ok).
We camped for 5 nights just under the Monte Rosa Hutte (above Zermatt at 2700m) about 10 years ago, the hut guardian said it was ok if we camped below the hut and there where a few other tents too. We were camped right by the path to the hut and people passing by were friendly and didn't say anything about not camping. So you'll probably be ok if you camp high up in the mountains.

Lol, you've reminded me of the time some friends of mine were driving through France. It was getting late and time to bivvy so they parked in a lay-by beside a field and climbed over the fence. After a short walk they found a marvellous bivvy spot; flat, elevated, short grass and they settled down for the night.
At five a.m. they were rudely awakened by armed French military police; who wanted to know what they were doing on their helicopter pad.
