Hi folks, Looking for a PHD Drishell Sleeping Bag cover. Cheers, Stephen

Hi Stephen Not what you ask, but did you have a look at the Haglofs sleeping bag cover ? clicky I have used this and it works great since my ME Xero 750 has no DWR. This shop in in Belgium, free shipping and delivered next day.

There is a PHD vapour barrier on eBAy at the moment. Looking at the writeup I am assuning this particular one is to go inside a sleeping bag rather than outside it. However, I guess the final fit will depend on the size of the sleeping bag you plan to use it with and the size of this particular bag. James

Hi Guys, Cheers for pointing those out. Stephen

 |
Stephen Bit of an update on the Haglof cover. Used it last night to awake this morrning with cover and sleeping bag wet ! Needless to say, I've binned it and would advise you to avoid it like the plague !

Cheers for the heads up BH.

Blimey, just checked phd's website and the price has shot up a bit!
Why not have a word with Sean at Oookworks to see if he can get a similar fabric, it's a fairly simple design.

They are expensive alright, thats why I was looking for a second hand one.

Stephen Have bought and used one night so far a Rab Survival Zone bivi bag. Nice piece of kit that works great for me.

I had a old Rab survival zone & never found it as breathable as my old Phoenix Goretex bivvy bag. I'd always get condensation in it. Also the drawcord wouldn't cinch smoothly as it dragged on the proofed face of thefabric - saw this on a few, I think they would have been better reversing the fabric in the tube the cord ran through. It may be different on the latest version - worth checking. I can't vouch for the ME ION bag 100% yet as I only recently got mine of ebay but it's the same fabric (drilite) used on some of their sleeping bags where it's done the job for me in the past in damp tents & snowholes. I don't think ME's drilite & PHD's drishell are much different if at all. The ION is heavier but is more of a bivvy bag style & also has taped seams & can be picked up quite cheaply.

 Cheers Russ,
I have a Rab event which is very nice but looking for something nice and light.
|
 |
Stephen, have you considered the Terra Nova Moonlite? It's scarcely any heavier than the PHD Drishell and it's got taped seams so offers more protection, depending where you want to use it. (RRP £100 but I just saw it for £85 on UltralightOutdoorGear and a mere £70 at F&T)

 Hi Matt,
To be honest I have not looked at it but will.
Was that the one you used for snowholing?
Cheers,
Stephen
|
 |
 Yes, that's the one.
|
 |
 Hows the breathability?
I could not find what type of goretex it uses, it would be nice if it was the vapour and not just water transferable version.
Cheers,
|

It's not goretex. It's some kind of coating, but TN don't actually give any information on that, not that I've found anyway. But I've used it 3 or 4 times and not experienced any condensation problems (yet).

 Cheets for that Matt.
