Hi guys and gals,
I am looking to purchase a few different set of socks to cover a few different situations and as I always seem to get sound advice from the good people of this forum I find myself here again. I know there are alot of threads covering the subjects however I would like to give you the right info so that you can give me the correct info in return.
I go fishing alot,around 3days at a time and due to being static the first thing to go is your feet,due to the fact that we are just sitting around and standing around walking very little distance,in this situation what would you suggest is the best type of sock,a friend has mentioned smartwool mountaineering extra heavy crew socks,or are there primaloft type socks that would be better???footwear wise I do have room for thicker socks size 8 boots,size 7 foot.
Secondly I am after a warm set of sock that I can match up with another set of boots I have, the problem being these boots are size 7 with my footI size being size 7,obviously I don't want a overly thick sock and these will be used to play in the snow with my little boy,so really just something that offers a bit more warmth than a average sock oh comfort would be a bonus.

I got some pretty toasty merino karrimor socks from sport direct for a fiver roughly. Pretty dam good for the money. I have mild rehnauds so I know how important it is to keep those digits warm and so far these have been great. I work outdoors a lot doing building work so relatively static and so far so good. Not tried them below freezing purely because of the weather but my feet get hot over 15 degrees I'd say. They do another type which are basically the same as the heat holders.
