Yes, I will put up with anything for a night, I'm not sure I would have the stomach for multiple night of misery.

So why not take some creature comforts like a stove and a tarp and make it less unpleasant?

 |

Wanted to save weight and space in the rucksack as well!!
The TN Jupiter is 90g lighter (list weight) than the laser comp, and has fairly similar price and packed volume, too. There's not much between the size and weights of any sort of lightweight 1-man shelter these days. With that worry out of the way, what you're mostly left with is picking what will be nicest to sleep in (and maybe which colour you'd prefer).

Mike. When did you take the decision to be a wimp.?Iv'e always had you down as a tough hard Scot.Have I to cross another off my list.?
I like to bivvy so that i can look at the stars, and meditate drunkenly on the meaning of life, and why polar bears like to stand on sweets.
If it's raining, the stars are missing.

So that's what it boils down to, not a packed size/volume reason but a more exposed, quick pitching in smaller places, less prone to wind destruction reason? When you look at how much fabric difference there is, you'd expect Bivvy+tarp to be half the packed size and weight.

They do pack pretty small IME - I use them for (hopefully) fine weather overnighters....such as..

I used an OMM32 on this trip and had a fair bit of room - although I reckon OMM litres are 'small' compared to the likes of say...Crux..
