Selling on behalf of SARDA South Wales. A never-used, never even unrolled as far as I can tell, Terra Nova Discovery Lite bivvy bag. Details here from Terra Nova. These sell for £100 upwards brand new from stores, so will take £65 + p&p (which won't be that much because it's small and very light), or make me an offer.

Oops! I must not have done the Control +C properly at the Terra Nova page. That's Coire, one of our searchdogs! Try this

A little bump from me having picked one of these up at the recent Tiso sale. Not quite the bargain price that MK is offering but it really is the lightest bivvy bag I have used. Lighter and smaller pack size than my orange polythene one!

Hi Kate,
Is this still available? And is the rather fine hound in the pic thrown in for free?
I confess that as a complete novice when it comes to biviyiviying I don't know where the line is drawn between a sleeping bag cover and a bivi bag. Does anyone have any comment as to whether this bag would be suitable to use a) on its own, or b) with a micro tarp, if the weather is a little unfriendly?

The bag in question should be fine in both instances you mention. If you're new to a bivy then maybe try with a tarp first as it gives you cooking and storage space and keeps the rain off your head - not too hard core.

Thanks NickNick, that's exactly the kind of stuff I want to know. Very helpful, ta.

12barblues, sorry, this is 'under offer' at the moment - I'd have posted on here but the offer came in today and I went straight off to the pub quiz! edited to add: we do also have a used bivvy exactly the same; I'll inspect it tomorrow and see what damage there is, I can't remember off-hand but do recall it wasn't in great condition, which is why I hadn't put it up to sell.

MK Interested in this as well - but do appreciate those interested already. Would consider the "not in great condition" one dependant on how good or bad . Cheers

Ok, I've had a look at the "not in great condition" one; it's been used for "bodying". This means someone has been lying in it on the ground and has been 'found' by Search and Rescue dogs. The dog may have jumped on the bivvy bag when it made the find. I can find no evidence of tears in the material; when I lie in it zipped up I can see some vaguely transluscent pinpricks of light but these don't appear to be holes, rather I think tiny cosmetic defects or perhaps damage where the 'body' has been getting in and out in full hill kit and probably boots. I've just cupped a load of water in it and nothing's got through those pinpricks, but I cannot guarantee that there aren't some minute punctures in it. It needs a decent clean, but if it were not for its previous use and therefore concern about 100% integrity I'd probably sell it as in "good" condition. It's barely been used (we tend to use army bivvy bags because they're much tougher and more roomy). It beads like there's no tomorrow! I'll try to get a photo up later, but in the meantime, here's another gratuitous SARDA dog photo, or rather SARDA puppy; this is Angus who is now a month older than in the photo, and who started his training on Saturday!

What do you do for living? Very thorough and prompt response.
I only want one, as an emergency bag.
Be interested depending in the price and the previous poster not being interested. Chewie

I'm a lecturer on a 100% research contract at the moment and spending a lot of time writing in my study at home.

Now I understand the thoroughness I did wonder, as I had interpreted you were from some other threads/comments. But never assume Look forward to a guide price when you have time

The new bivvy has now sold, which leaves the "not in great condition" one as described above. Looking for offers in the region of £35-40 + p&p. Chewie, you're next up if 12barblues prefers to go for something in better condition

The "not in great condition" one has now also been sold. Thanks everyone for your interest in these, and particularly to the buyers who are supporting a very worthwhile charity. We had SARDA South Wales dogs on callouts in Aberystwyth last night (2 dogs and handlers) and in the Rhondda (1 dog and handler) searching for missing persons. With the dogs we are able to search large areas that would otherwise have drained the resources of Mountain Rescue foot search teams, allowing them to concentrate on other areas. Thanks again.
