Okies folksies - I'm currently driving a 1.4 seat ibiza which I've fitted with towbar, roofrack, and obviously animal stickers. I've also ripped out the back seats & most of the boot bits & fitted a custom wooden flatbed to fit all my gear. It's cheep, its now bigger inside than an estate, and its fits me wherever I go. However, I've also this nasty habit of skidding off roads - thus its also nearly dead
So I'm looking for a new adventure vehicle. One thats:
- Cheep to insure
- Great on fuel economy
- Handles wet country roads
- Has LOADS of space for gear
- Feels cool when you're out adventuring!
- Could sleep in it as a bailout
- Easy to fix on the road
- Isn't a VW van.
Any suggestions? t.

 Tardis

Sorry, Ian, he said 'easy to fix on the road'. The Tardis was forever experiencing mechanical problems and sonic screwdriver aren't that easy to come by.

Im sure a sharp thump on the console usually sorts it out can't get much simpler than that Kate.

Same again plus some driving lessons

Reminds me of my early days in a Ford Escort van. I like my current car & it ticks all your boxes except it's not easy to fix on the road. It's never let me down but I'm sure if it did I'd have to get the breakdown service out.

Apart from the ... "Feels cool when you're out adventuring!"... have a look at 2nd hand Fiat Doblo's.
Mine: is never in garage does 50 mpg on motorway fully loaded with roofbox v cheap to insure loads of space etc etc
Thanks, Simon

... have a look at 2nd hand Fiat Doblo's. A favourite with many taxi drivers - always a good sign! In my region there are masses of Skoda Octavia taxis & they get high scores for reliabilty. That was a big influence in my decision to get a 2nd hand Octavia Scout, a 4wd estate. Add a roofbox & a towbar mounted 3 bike carrier & it will carry everything the 3 of us need for a holiday including the dog in a cage & a 3-way fridge on the back seat for summer trip.
