I am new to this forum as a member (i have been researching gear on here for a year or so), i am in the market for a new jacket to replace my sprayway santiago jacket and i have found the north face draconis jacket for a good price and would just like to know a bit more infomation about it because my reasearch hasnt been very sucsesful
i am looking to know about -is there an inside pocket? -do the chest pockets have internal storm flap? -are there and pit zips? -any other usefull infomation
no its not from ebay, i am looking at the ones on the cotsworld website and am hoping to pop down to my local store soon to have a look but i would really just like to know as much as i can, because i am hoping to get this jacket before the ten tors training season begins
If its a non regular online sales item then stock in a specific store might be patchy or non existent. Probably best to try e-mailing TNF and/or Cotswolds' central info people etc.
Not sure, but hunting online it seemingly has an internal pocket of some sort, and probably not pit zips.
As for the pockets, very likely (as its the normal way for these things) for them to be internally waterproof with maybe some sort of small internal flap. So you'd stay dry but stuff in them less so.
Thank you for the info Martin, i am going to email TNF and ask if they can provide and pictures of the jacker, but it doesnt seem to be listed on their site so it might be discontinued
i dont think it is exclusive to cotsworld because i have seen it in other places, im just also wondering wether anyone has an alternatives in the up to about £220 pound mark, the jackets i have been looking at are
-the north face draconis -rab bergen -rab latok -rab latox alpine -montane venture -ME firefox -berghaus velum
if anybody has any experiences with the above jackets i will be very thankful for some real world performance
Well basically every shell that RAB do is in that price range, and most of Montane's ones. And (even without sales) multiple others, so should be fine.
All the fabrics you've got there are very reputable and used in multiple jackets so you've got plentiful reviews cf fabric performance to work on. Then its just going to be design and fit, both of which are somewhat pesonal.
Certainly fit is and you do ideally need to check that for yourself, hood too. You do want a good hood
Design not quite so much, but the only real 'flaw' I can think of in that bunch is the Velum seeming (from reviews here) not to have any internal storm flap. Which is a trifle silly.
Otherwise you essentially have to decide how much you prioritise low weight (useful when its carried not worn) and features such as pockets etc which might be useful when you're wearing it. Thats a very personal sort of decision though. You've certainly got a pretty wide weight/feature range in that bunch.
